Welcome Aboard!

Here you will find information to help newly-reporting personnel and their families learn more about the City of Rockland and Midcoast Maine. Whether you have orders in hand or you are contemplating a transfer to the area, this site is a great place to learn about area history, local health care facilities, restaurants, real estate, churches, schools, shopping, and life on the Coast of Maine. In Maine, the Coast Guard is responsible for maintaining Aids to Navigation, Search and Rescue, Recreational Boating Safety, Commercial Vessel Safety, Protecting Living Marine Resources, Homeland Security, and Ice Breaking. Since 2001 the U.S. Coast Guard has been part of the Department of Homeland Security.

Dear Incoming Transfers:
The Rockland Coast Guard City Committee would like to welcome you and assure you that our committee will do everything it can to help you feel comfortable and welcomed to our little corner of Maine. We have a rich heritage with personnel at the station and each of the units assigned to Rockland. We are the 9th city to be named a Coast Guard City. Rockland and the surrounding area are rich with historical significance. Residents are very proud of the seafaring heritage and brisk work ethic.

We hope that your transition is already going well. If you need anything that the Coast Guard units are unable to help you with, please feel free to contact us, and one of the members of the committee will get you the information you need. One of the main functions of the CG City Committee is to assist members with their transition to the Mid-Coast Area and take care of incoming people or Coast Guard personnel that would just like more information about the area.

We wish you the best of luck with your move to the Rockland area and we are looking forward to meeting you. We want you to know that the committee is committed to you and your family's well being as you make the move to the Rockland area.
